Manipulation, or the return of the big players? Bitcoin, XRP, and Cardano show suspicious movements

The cryptocurrency market saw a noticeable rebound in mid-October. However, behind the simultaneous price gains of Bitcoin, XRP, and Cardano lay unusually large-scale blockchain maneuvers flagged by well-known analyst Ali Martinez. The question remains whether this reflects genuine buying interest or short-term moves by market whales.

Massive exchange inflows and surging transaction volumes

The biggest attention went to Bitcoin, where coin inflows to exchanges jumped from roughly 7,682 BTC to more than 25,100 BTC. Even though the price of the largest cryptocurrency simultaneously climbed toward the $84,800 mark, such a dramatic shift of capital to exchange addresses typically signals preparation for selling, hedging operations, or heightened trading activity that could result in selling pressure.

A similarly anomalous development was seen on the XRP Ledger network. The transaction volume for the XRP token shot up from 215 million over the weekend to nearly 50 billion, while the price bounced off support and strengthened to the $1.38 level. Although the volume alone doesn’t definitively confirm direct purchases and could simply reflect routine transfers between wallets, the timing alongside the price increase points to a significant awakening among major players.

Cardano whales awaken, and a thin line toward manipulation

Whales on the Cardano network also sprang into action. The number of transactions exceeding one million dollars in value more than doubled within two days, rising from 24 to 51. The ADA token’s price immediately reacted by bouncing off support around $0.21 and climbing more than 5%, a move also bolstered by a notable rise in total daily trading volume.

Although the coincidence of rising prices and sudden on-chain fluctuations tempts one toward theories of market manipulation, the network data alone does not prove any foul play. What it clearly does confirm is the return of speculative capital and heightened activity among major players across all three assets at once. Whether this marks the beginning of a longer-term trend will only become clear once we see whether the market can withstand the looming threat of profit-taking.
