Bitcoin surpassed Google and became the sixth largest asset in the world

The digital currency Bitcoin surpassed Alphabet (Google) in market capitalization and became the sixth most valuable asset in the world. This shift confirms the growing importance of cryptocurrencies in the global economy and shows that Bitcoin is no longer just an alternative tool for speculators. Its growing value and stable investor interest prove that it is becoming a serious player in the global financial arena, capable of competing with even the largest technology giants.

Bitcoin in the top six global assets

Bitcoin is currently valued at USD 2.117 trillion, slightly surpassing Alphabet with a market capitalization of USD 2 trillion. Gold, Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, and Amazon remain in the top spots. Surpassing Alphabet is another significant milestone in the growth of digital assets.

Interestingly, this shift occurred over the weekend, outside of normal stock market trading hours. Thanks to continuous trading, Bitcoin had an advantage that traditional assets such as Alphabet shares do not have. This may have played a role in its weekend surge.

What is behind Bitcoin’s growth?

Although the rise in the price of Bitcoin to USD 107,000 was not linked to any specific event, several factors may have played a role. These include, for example, Moody’s downgrade of the US credit rating and expectations of an easing of geopolitical tensions.

The influx of capital into spot ETF funds also helped significantly, with USD 608 million added in the last week alone. Investor interest in Bitcoin as an alternative asset continues to grow, although its lead over Alphabet may only be temporary due to volatility.
