The world’s largest cryptocurrency has been showing unusual resilience to tech stock declines and growing investor risk aversion in recent days. While the Nasdaq 100 index weakens due to concerns over overvaluation of artificial intelligence-related stocks, Bitcoin has successfully broken through the $65,000 threshold. This development suggests a possible short-term decoupling of the cryptocurrency from traditional risk assets, which could pave the way for an assault on the psychological level of $70,000.

Decoupling from tech sector and pressure from macroeconomic risks
The short-term divergence between Bitcoin and the Nasdaq 100 tech index is currently a key signal for market analysts. If digital gold can maintain its positions even during a broader correction in stock markets, it will strengthen the argument about its declining dependence on the technology sector. The situation in traditional markets is further complicated by rising yields on U.S. Treasury bonds and falling spot gold prices, confirming that investors across global markets are currently struggling to find a clear safe haven.
Global sentiment is also significantly affected by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which pose a persistent threat to all risk assets. A potential escalation of the conflict could trigger a new wave of selling pressure across markets. The current Bitcoin rally therefore cannot be considered a definitive confirmation of a new long-term bull trend until the market tests the stability of this dynamic in an environment of overall deteriorating global sentiment.

Cautious derivatives market and MicroStrategy’s cash cushion
Despite Bitcoin’s rising spot price, professional traders in the derivatives market remain surprisingly cautious. The annualized funding rate for perpetual futures hovers around neutral 8%, signaling an absence of overheated leveraged speculative positions. Similar caution is shown in the options market with higher pricing of put options. This situation, however, paradoxically provides Bitcoin with healthier foundations for organic growth, as the market is not burdened by excessive risk of massive forced liquidations.
Significant support for market stability was also provided by MicroStrategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder. Through a successful sale of common stock, the company increased its cash reserve to $3.22 billion. This massive financial cushion has calmed investor concerns that the company might be forced to sell its Bitcoin reserves to cover its bond obligations and preferred dividends. Breaking through the $70,000 threshold thus remains a realistic target if Bitcoin confirms its strength and maintains positions above current support.
