Bitcoin has had a strong April. History suggests the growth may not be over

Bitcoin delivered its best monthly performance in a year in April, returning a portion of optimism to the market. The gain of 11.87% came significantly close to the historical April average, and investor attention is now shifting to May, which has often been favorable to Bitcoin in the past.

May could build on the positive turnaround

April’s growth came after a longer period of caution and showed that the market still has the strength to quickly shift sentiment. According to CoinGlass data, Bitcoin’s historical April average is 12.98%, so this year’s result fell short by only a slight margin. For investors, this is an important signal, as similarly strong months often reopen the debate about a possible continuation of the upward trend.

Historical numbers also give bulls another reason for optimism. May has historically brought Bitcoin an average appreciation of around 7.78%, although the statistics themselves naturally do not guarantee future performance. The fact that after five consecutive red months, the market managed to close two months in a row in the green also has a positive effect, bringing visible relief among traders.

Analysts diverge on future direction

Bitcoin is currently trading around $79,000, approximately 35% below its October all-time high of $125,100. Although part of the market believes in further recovery, overall sentiment remains cautious. The Fear and Greed Index is hovering around 40, indicating that investors are not yet in euphoria and are approaching risk more carefully.

Analyst opinions are also divided. CryptoQuant warns that the April rally may have been driven primarily by futures contract traders, which increases the risk that the growth was not built on solid foundations. More optimistic voices, such as Michael van de Poppe, on the other hand, argue that Bitcoin does not need any major new story to return above $100,000. If the price begins to rise convincingly again, according to them, the market will create its own narrative.
