Two days, several halls, and a debate that gradually moves from Bitcoin toward artificial intelligence, geopolitics, second citizenship, inheritance, or personal data protection. The seventh ChainCamp showed how the Czech and Slovak Bitcoin scene is transforming. While one part of it seeks a path toward banks and wider adoption, another keeps returning to the original questions of privacy, control over one’s own money, and life without intermediaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s Friday, September 11, shortly after two in the afternoon, and this year’s ChainCamp begins a little differently than in previous years. The Bitcoin community isn’t arriving at the Aula of V\u0160B-TUO in Ostrava-Poruba just for the traditional Saturday program. For the first time, the seventh edition has gained a full second conference day with its own theme: Plan B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, Bitcoin is just one piece of a much bigger puzzle. The program runs in parallel across three halls, and the organizers have lined up roughly twenty speakers. There’s talk of residencies, citizenship, geopolitics, cybersecurity, wealth, and family. The shared question is simple: what can a person do today to have more options at the moment their original plan stops working?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Bitcoin through gold to a digital footprint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the first blocks is Financial PLAN B. Josef T\u011btek, Ale\u0161 V\u00e1vra, and Marek Br\u00e1vn\u00edk set three different views on long-term value preservation against each other \u2013 Bitcoin, physical gold, and traditional capital markets. Right from the start, the Friday program signals that ChainCamp<\/a> doesn’t want to present Bitcoin this time as the only answer to every question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An hour later, the program branches off in a completely different direction. AI researcher and science communicator Sara Polak examines what civilizational resilience might mean at a time when people are delegating an ever-larger share of decision-making and societal functioning to AI. Meanwhile, in the room next door, Milan “Sodom\u00e1k” P\u016flkr\u00e1bek moves from grand civilizational scenarios to a much more personal threat \u2013 one’s own digital footprint. His practical OPSEC talk revolves around the information people leave behind in photographs, old profiles, or metadata, which OSINT tools can piece together surprisingly easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this is where it starts to become clear what the organizers mean by “Plan B.” It’s not just about having a stash of money for hard times. A backup plan can also mean the ability not to leave behind unnecessary amounts of data, the option to relocate your family, wealth spread across different types of assets, or simply awareness of what information about yourself you’re revealing to the world around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if the problem isn’t just about money, but the whole family?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The next block shifts the debate from the individual to the family. In his talk, Michal N\u00fddrle from Invity addresses what a Plan B might look like for a household with children, and whether it really has to lead abroad. For a single person, a backup scenario can be built relatively simply \u2013 but once a partner, children, housing, or a business enter the picture, the number of variables grows quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, in another hall, investor Dan Vo\u0159echovsk\u00fd takes the stage. His topic already leans toward geopolitics: what could current conflicts and the return of great-power rivalry mean over a five-to-ten-year horizon for wealth, mobility, or personal freedom. Within a few hours, Plan B has thus shifted from choosing an investment asset, through protecting digital identity, all the way to the question of where \u2013 and under what conditions \u2013 a person even wants to live long-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening, these themes become even more concrete. Michal N\u00fddrle returns for a panel on real estate, where investing in the Czech Republic, buying property abroad, and the option of not holding capital in “bricks” at all are pitted against each other. Meanwhile, Viliam Klamar\u010d\u00edk from Vexl opens the topic of personal documents \u2013 ID cards and passports as sensitive data, copies of which people often hand over far more casually than the amount of information they contain would warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday’s program closes with another not-so-comfortable aspect of personal sovereignty. Attorney Radim Kozub addresses inheritance and asset protection across jurisdictions. Owning Bitcoin, real estate, or a foreign bank account still doesn’t mean you have Plan B sorted out if no one knows what happens to that wealth once its owner dies or loses access to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the first day, it’s fairly easy to forget that this is still an event that grew primarily around Bitcoin<\/a>. That changes quickly on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday brings Bitcoin back to the stage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The second day starts in a more traditional way. After the organizers’ opening remarks, Lubom\u00edr Val\u00edk takes the main stage with an announcement from Partners Banka. The bank appears at ChainCamp at a time when it already allows its clients to buy and sell Bitcoin directly within its app, in partnership with the Czech company Anycoin. This places Bitcoin in an environment that could hardly be more different from its original cypherpunk vision \u2013 a regulated banking app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right after him comes one of the best-known faces of the domestic Bitcoin scene. This time, Jakub “Kicom” Vejmola chooses neither a technical topic nor a traditional market commentary. His talk, “What Bitcoin Gave Me and Took From Me,” is a more personal reflection on his relationship with the technology and the community around which he’s built a large part of his professional life over the past years. The very fact that such a talk was placed among the first main items on the program shows that, after years of the Czech Bitcoin scene’s existence, the time has come not only to explain Bitcoin to newcomers but also to take stock of what long-term immersion in it does to people themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next comes the launch of the book Bitcoin v kapse (Bitcoin in Your Pocket), bringing together Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krause, Pavla N\u00fddrle, and Kamil Bou\u0161ka. Shortly after, \u0160t\u011bp\u00e1n Uher\u00edk from Invity takes the microphone with the topic “A Turbulent Year for Bitcoin.” The program thus returns to the current state of the industry \u2013 to a year in which, alongside price, regulation, new financial products, and Bitcoin’s growing convergence with the traditional financial system are increasingly at the center of discussion. The order of the main program is confirmed by the conference’s official schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then ChainCamp takes a sharp detour for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors Miloslav Ro\u010dek and Roman Prymula take the stage with the project “Longevity as a Service.” Their talk introduces the concept of preventive and regenerative medicine and is one of the moments that makes clear how broadly the organizers today understand the concept of personal responsibility and long-term planning. For several dozen minutes, the Bitcoin program is interrupted by a topic that has nothing directly to do with cryptocurrencies at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can Bitcoin beat fiat?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The next speaker, Juraj Karpi\u0161, brings the discussion back to money itself. In his updated talk, “How to Beat Fiat in a (Not Very Free) Competition?”, the Slovak economist puts Bitcoin into direct competition with the current monetary system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s one of the classic questions of the Bitcoin community, though in 2026 it sounds a bit different than it did a few years ago. Today, Bitcoin isn’t merely an alternative standing outside the gates of the financial system. It’s increasingly becoming integrated into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This very tension keeps recurring throughout the day in various forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Karpi\u0161, the floor also goes to CryptoLadies. Kate\u0159ina Kloudov\u00e1, Pavla N\u00fddrle, and Ta\u0165\u00e1na Turkov\u00e1 focus their panel on women in the Bitcoin space \u2013 a community that has historically been strongly male-dominated, and where in recent years some projects have tried to widen the circle of people for whom a first encounter with Bitcoin isn’t primarily associated with technical jargon. This is followed by a short announcement from General Bytes and then an open Q&A with Kicom, Josef T\u011btek, and Jan Kohout. This is also where the other face of ChainCamp shows itself well. Alongside the big topics, an important part of the event is the people who keep meeting each other again and again on the Czech Bitcoin scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We don’t know our customers”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon opens on the main stage with a block from Anna Vrbasov\u00e1 of Vexl. Its very title, “Vexl Birthday: 4 Years of Not Knowing Our Customers,” is a small provocation aimed at the direction a large part of the crypto market has meanwhile been taking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the regulated world, customer identification is a given. Vexl built its service on the opposite idea \u2013 enabling people to find a counterparty for a peer-to-peer Bitcoin exchange without the central platform ever needing to know who they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just moments later, on the very same stage, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Najman from the Czech National Bank takes the floor. His question is: can stablecoins become crypto’s Trojan horse into the current financial world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Najman, who deals with digital finance, crypto assets, and technologies in the financial sector at the CNB, turns attention to a part of crypto that, by contrast, is very tightly linked to the traditional financial system. Stablecoins try to preserve the properties of blockchain assets while typically pegging their value to a state currency. They are thus a bridge between two worlds that keep alternating throughout the day at ChainCamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While stablecoins are being discussed, Africa is on the agenda one floor down<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program is running in parallel, however, so it’s not possible to simply write out one continuous list of everything happening in Ostrava. While the main stage continues, Josef T\u011btek begins his talk “Bitcoin in Africa” in the \u0160rajtofle hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

T\u011btek runs Trezor Academy, an educational project focused on the Global South, and his segment opens with a documentary about bitcoin use in African countries. The perspective thus shifts from the Czech debate about price, taxes, or investment products to an environment where the significance of cryptocurrency may be tied more to access to financial services themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s precisely the contrast between these talks that illustrates the breadth of this year’s program well. Within a single afternoon, Bitcoin is an investment, a technological network, a privacy tool, and potential financial infrastructure in countries where part of the population lacks the same access to banks as Europeans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in that same side hall, an hour later, comes perhaps the most telling clash of the entire year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KYC vs. NO KYC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taking seats across from each other on stage are Viliam Klamar\u010d\u00edk of Vexl and Michal N\u00fddrle of Invity. The panel’s title hides nothing: “KYC versus NO KYC.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On one side stands the path of regulated services that work with identified clients and try to make Bitcoin usable for a broader public. On the other is the conviction that privacy when buying bitcoin isn’t an inconvenient regulatory obstacle, but a feature worth actively protecting. The organizers themselves presented the panel as a clash between two seemingly irreconcilable strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is exactly where the two days of the conference connect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, Klamar\u010d\u00edk warned against carelessly handing out copies of identification documents. On Saturday, he’s discussing a model in which no ID needs to be presented at all when exchanging bitcoin. Michal N\u00fddrle spoke the day before about a family Plan B; now he stands on the side of a regulated service that tries to combine self-custody of bitcoin keys with the rules of the European financial market. At a single ChainCamp, then, two directions for Bitcoin’s future development exist side by side. And neither one disappears from the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Future of Money to Crypto-Anarchy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, on the main stage, the program moves to its next segment, bringing one of the day’s economically most interesting pairings: Dominik Stroukal and Juraj Karpi\u0161. Their joint discussion about money, the economy, and the future takes Karpi\u0161’s morning topic into a broader framework. It’s no longer just about whether bitcoin can compete with fiat currencies, but about how our very understanding of money and the financial system is changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next comes an announcement from Lubom\u00edr Val\u00edk and Martina Bac\u00edkov\u00e1 focused on modern education about money and Bitcoin, followed by Urza taking the stage with his talk “With Love for #disobedience and (crypto)anarchy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a day in which Bitcoin appeared alongside banking services, stablecoins, financial oversight, and regulated providers, the main stage returns once again to the ideological roots of part of the cryptocurrency scene\u2014distrust of centralized power, voluntarism, and personal responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One Conference, Two Different Directions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After two days, it’s difficult to sum up ChainCamp as simply a conference about Bitcoin. The first day opened with the question of whether a person needs a backup plan for their assets, family, data, or place of residence. The second day opened with bitcoin in the banking world and ended with crypto-anarchy, community projects, and a debate about the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In between, Bitcoin managed to appear as a rival to state-issued money, a component of an investment portfolio, a tool for people without access to banks, and a technology<\/a> whose use still sparks debate about how much personal information one should have to hand over in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that perhaps best describes the situation the bitcoin scene finds itself in in 2026. The closer Bitcoin gets to the mainstream financial system, the more important the question becomes\u2014for part of its community\u2014of which qualities it must not lose along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why, on a single stage, a bank that has added bitcoin to its app can appear in the morning, a central bank expert in the afternoon, and a crypto-anarchist in the evening. Just a few meters away, meanwhile, a discussion is underway about whether anyone should even have to show an ID to buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seventh ChainCamp, then, was not merely a showcase of what’s currently being built around Bitcoin. Above all, it was a reminder that the dispute over what Bitcoin is actually meant to serve is far from over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
