Career: While just a few years ago, job openings in the Bitcoin field were the domain of developers and blockchain engineers, the picture is changing rapidly today. According to the report<\/a> Bitvocation\u2019s 2025 Bitcoin Jobs Data, the number of Bitcoin job positions grew year-over-year by six percent in 2025 \u2013 and the vast majority of them are outside purely technical roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, 1,801 Bitcoin-related job positions were posted in 2025, compared to 1,707 a year earlier. However, the significance lies not just in the growth in overall numbers, but in the structure of these offers. Non-developer positions \u2013 roles in product management, marketing, sales, or leadership \u2013 accounted for 74 percent of all job listings. A year earlier in 2024, this figure was 69 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bitvocation, the Bitcoin sector is thus transitioning from a phase of technological experimentation to a phase of real business. Companies are scaling up, building teams, and need people who can bring products to everyday users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Mining to Payments<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Job opportunities span across the entire Bitcoin ecosystem \u2013 from bitcoin<\/a> mining through the Lightning Network (the so-called second layer for fast and cheap transactions) to financial services, payments, and tools for managing cryptocurrencies without intermediaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most sought-after non-technical role was product manager. Leadership positions also increased significantly \u2013 their number grew ten-fold year-over-year. According to Bitvocation, this is a clear signal that Bitcoin companies are entering a phase where it\u2019s no longer just about developing technology, but about managing people, processes, and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 150 purely \u201eBitcoin\u201c companies were actively hiring new employees in 2025. Leading the way were mining company Riot Platforms and payment firm Lightspark. The ten most active companies in this category expanded their teams by 122 percent year-over-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growth also touched so-called bitcoin-adjacent companies \u2013 companies that are not built exclusively on Bitcoin but play a significant role in the ecosystem. At the ten largest of these, the number of Bitcoin positions grew by 88 percent, led by names such as Bitdeer, Kraken, and the Czech SatoshiLabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

America Leads, Singapore Skyrockets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Geographically, the United States remains the main center of the Bitcoin job market \u2013 approximately 500 positions came from there. However, the biggest breakthrough was Singapore, which climbed to second place thanks to a year-over-year growth of 158 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top five is rounded out by the Czech Republic, Gibraltar, and Malaysia. Switzerland, on the other hand, experienced the biggest decline among the top ten \u2013 the number of job offers there fell by 70 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s interesting to note the presence of Bhutan and El Salvador, countries that rank among the world\u2019s largest holders of bitcoin. They occupied ninth and tenth place in the job opportunities ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the share of remote work is declining slightly. While in 2024, 53 percent of Bitcoin positions were remote, in 2025 it\u2019s only 45 percent. Companies are increasingly building physical teams and local offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \u201eSwiss Army Knife\u201c with a Bitcoin Soul<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What exactly are Bitcoin companies looking for? According to Bitvocation respondents, the biggest problem is the lack of people who can combine professional competence with a deep understanding of Bitcoin culture and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hardest to fill are highly specialized technical roles, such as Bitcoin Core or Lightning developers. But non-technical positions are equally problematic \u2013 those that require the ability to \u201etranslate\u201c Bitcoin\u2019s philosophy into product, growth, operations, or communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Companies often describe the ideal candidate as a \u201eSwiss Army knife\u201c \u2013 someone who is flexible, reliable, can follow through on tasks, and can thrive in the chaotic, real world of startups. Especially in the early stages of projects, the ability to wear \u201emultiple hats\u201c and be tireless in execution is key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traditional resume is ceasing to be the sole measure. Greater weight is given to actual involvement in the Bitcoin community, personal projects, contributions to the ecosystem, and inner alignment with what Bitcoin stands for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the companies surveyed expect Bitcoin job opportunities to remain stable or continue to grow in 2026. It seems Bitcoin is no longer just the domain of geeks and code \u2013 it\u2019s becoming a fully-fledged industry that needs managers, strategists, marketers, and leaders. And for regular job seekers, it can be a surprisingly open opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
